Rochester Hypnotherapy - Keeping Hypnotherapy Professional

Adam Eason - Hypnosis and Personal Development

Hypnosis works with your *Unconscious mind

*some call it the subconscious, there is a fierce debate as to the acuracy of the this term if you are more comfortable with this word then simply substitute!

"Stage hypnotism is to hypnotherapy what darts is to acupuncture. Darts might be more entertaining to watch but it is never going to be of much
practical use, is it?" Chris Holmes -Nicotine the Drug that never was!

"Hypnosis is a tool - a technique. Anyone can learn to deliver hypnosis, It's the Therapy that makes the difference. Not all Hypnotists deliver good THERAPY." Jacqueline.

How Does Hypnosis Work?

Your unconscious mind operates much differently than your conscious mind does. Your unconscious mind serves two vital functions in your life.

First, your unconscious mind has memory of that which has transpired in your life. If you need information from the past, your unconscious mind can be worked with to present it to you.

How have you been using this ability of your unconscious mind during a normal day?

Have you heard music on the radio which immediately takes you back to a time which evoked a feeling, whether good or bad?

Have you ever passed someone in the street and cannot place their name, yet spontaneously the name comes back to you days later when you are not thinking about them at all!

Second, your unconscious mind works for you as a very obedient servant. In other words, your unconscious mind creates EXACTLY that which it is commanded to create for you in your life. Perhaps you wonder where these commands -- the programs that are being followed by your unconscious mind and, thus, being created as your life -- originate?

YOU HAVE PROGRAMMED YOUR UNCONSCIOUS

Your unconscious mind has received programmes in a number of ways. Primarily,

a) from the things you have been told, especially when
you were a child;

b) from things you observe;

c) from the messages you give yourself in your own
mind; that is, from what you say to yourself.

What you say to yourself and the thoughts that you think comprise the orders that your unconscious mind then creates as your life. This is the basis of the concept of "self-fulfilling prophecy."

If you tell yourself that you cannot stop smoking then you are perfecting the programme, in fact the more you tell yourself that you cannot do something the more your unconscious accepts this as your reality.

It creates these ideas because you told it to do so, with your thoughts. After all, you described to your unconscious mind what you wanted. You did this via what you were thinking. You told it what to do ... and, as the very obedient servant that it is, it just follows the lead you described!

Your unconscious mind is a quiet presence -- it is just there, with you every moment of every day. It attends to your mind, to your every thought, your every mental idea. It then sets to creating what you have been thinking ... in just the way you have been thinking it to be. Without question. Without contradiction.
Therefore if you want change to happen then it makes sense to change the way you think

How Do I differ from other Hypnotherapists?

Of course you should shop around before deciding on who to visit. As we are all individuals and have different approaches as Hypnotherapists.

Some newly qualified therapists work with carefully constructed scripts and stick rigidly to the one size fits all approach. I can always tell when someone is reading from scripts , can't you?

If I ever read from someone elses work I will do it openly and maybe give you the book to take home

Some Hypnotherapists place most of the emphasis on the techniques involved in order to achieve a deeper state of hypnosis that is really needed for most issues, apart from dental and pain management maybe?

Some advertise the fact that they use either Hypnoanalysis or Suggestion therapy , charge accordingly and state the amount of sessions needed before evaluating the problem first with the individual client.

I like to think that all my clients are the most important person in the universe at the time they are with me in my consulting room, so I treat each person as such. Some sessions appear to be more structured than others ;as talking is key to success I allow a great deal of revealing and helpful conversation in my sessions. In this respect I do not stick to the usual one hour and then out approach.

I sometimes use techniques  which are more akin to  motivational interviewing rather than using a strong emphasis on the traditional hypnosis. This is not what is known as "covert" work but more to do with "conversational hypnosis" which feels more natural than carefully constructed methods used by the "old school" type of practitioner.  I also incorporate NLP which I studied in my Practitoner course, not on a two day seminar.

No swinging watches or talk of "sleep".

Hypnoanalysis is more interactive than suggestion therapy and I bring my clients in and out of hypnosis during  the sessions. The sessions can be anything from one to twelve in number which might include up to 3 sessions in a week or spaced apart  according to the issue and/or progress ; my fees are adjusted accordingly.

Good therapy is priceless, it changes lives, this is not to be compared with the cost of material possessions.  Completed Hypnoanalysis programmes are much less than the cost of a good fridge freezer or replacement boiler!

I do not automatically give my clients pre recorded CDs, as one to one sessions are more effective and this is because I work with what you bring to therapy on the day....you can buy my one-size-fits all CDs on Ebay or I will give you one for homework If I believe its best for you.

I like to end my sessions on a high note. Sometimes my clients actually seem to skip down the stairs after their sessions; even the bleakest person leaves feeling enthusiastic and with a smile!

If you would  like to call me for a brief telephone consultation please feel free. If  your instincts tell you that I am the wrong person then trust them, equally if you feel more hopeful and inspired to change after speaking to me then do yourself a favour and book that appointment!

Thank you

Jacqueline.
