You may need extra help if you are following some diet plans. Especially if the plans are restricted to shakes, soups and omit some food groups, and you need motivation to continue.
Although there may be offers of counselling alongside your plan which goes some way to address eating behaviour my service is based upon many years of helping people to change with professional psychological techniques including hypnosis, life coaching and cognitive behavioural therapy. I am aware that some of these diets work but most do not address the psychological needs which lead to the excess weight in the first place.
The problem with comfort eating really is a psychologial one, not just an eating one.
